Civil Society Groups Seek Partnership Against Human Trafficking, Illegal immigration, Human Rights Protection

The International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) has reaffirmed efforts to curtail the world's dreaded enemy human trafficking, its vices, and other human rights issues in Nigeria. The assertion was made by the Ambassador at Large and Head of the Diplomatic Mission of the International Human Rights Commission Nigeria, Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah during a meeting with Human Rights Protection, Rule of Law and Justice Foundation, and Mediterranean Foundation for the Survival of Africa Migrants at IHRC Central Office, Abuja on 17th November 2022.
Speaking at the meeting, Chigozie Ogbuagu (Esq), Legal Coordinator for Human Rights Protection, Rule of Law and Justice Foundation maintained that advocacy on justice and human rights protection by the rule of law are core activities of his Foundation, stressing that partnership with a World's respected Peace Negotiator and Diplomatic Organization, the International Human Rights Commission, will enhance the Foundation's method of engagement and approach in the fight for human rights in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Mrs. A. Caroline speaking on behalf of the Mediterranean Foundation for the Survival of African Migrants highlighted drug and human trafficking, child labor, and illegal immigration are areas of focus of the Foundation. Seeking global collaboration with the International Human Rights Commission in curbing these menace is an effort that cannot be overemphasized, she added.

However, the duo Foundations established that sensitization, capacity-building training, and unrelenting advocacy on these issues would be a focal point of partnership.
In response, Dr. Duru appreciated the organizations stating that after due consultation and final approval of partnerships from IHRC world headquarters, they will be contacted further.

He reiterated the urgent need to revitalize Nigeria's economy and have a peaceful environment where every young Nigerian would see the need to remain in the country rather than divulging illegal immigration to find pastures abroad.

“I can assure you that through our partnerships, we will ensure campaigns, seminars, training, and conferences on international issues of human rights, peace, democracy, education, health, child labor, women's rights, combating terrorism, drug, and human trafficking. As well as promote advocacy that improves youths' inclusion as agents for social change, he noted.
